I worked in the hotel and travel industry before beginning my career as a journalist in 1984. In 1985, I was hired by "Castle & Cooke" to write a community newsletter focused on keeping Lānaʻiʻs residents informed of the island’s transition from an agricultural-based economy to tourism. I’ve created three community newspapers, "Lānaʻi Times", "Hāna News", and "Lānaʻi Today", in addition to writing for other publications.
In 2003, I started a one-acre farm which I expanded to 18 acres. I closed it in 2016 when I was no longer able to hire reliable help. However, I continue to support Maui County farmers through the "Maui Farm Bureau" and "Hawaiʻi Farmers Union United".
I am the author of a history book published by "Arcadia Publishing Company", which has more than 200 books about small towns across America. My book is titled "Images of America – Lānaʻi". It was published in 2015 and continues to sell well in retail outlets.
My passion is community and finding common-sense solutions to challenging problems. Let’s get out there together and make our community a better place by getting involved!
